Bonding / Tooth Colored Restorations
Dr. Yeager uses dental bonding at his Santa Rosa, CA office as a tool to sculpt restorations for either individual or multiple teeth. Bonding is affordable, quick, painless, and one of the easiest ways to restore the health and beauty of damaged teeth. Bonding is created using special tooth-like materials that look, act, and feel like the real thing. A mold is taken of your affected teeth and used as a blueprint to carve out the needed restoration to exact measurements. Dental bonding is used to replace those old crowns, bridges, and amalgam metallic fillings with new porcelain restorations that have the same translucence as your natural teeth. Your new metal-free crowns, inlays, and bridges won't show wear or cause opposing teeth to erode, and fitting the crown or bridge is a breeze.
Dr. Yeager’s dental office also features the revolutionary CEREC® system that allows him to create restorations in a single visit. Your tooth is lightly coated with a special powder, and then a laser takes an optical image. The image of the tooth appears on a screen that can be viewed chair-side, while the dentist makes the necessary adjustments. When all the specifications have been finalized the CEREC® machine simply mills the restoration from a block of porcelain. Dr. Yeager’s is one of the only practices that offers CEREC® in the Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Sebastopol, and Oakmont areas, so contact our office right away.

Porcelain Crowns
Porcelain crowns are used in restorative dentistry to add strength to teeth that are damaged, as well as to improve aesthetics. Dr. Yeager uses them in specific situations such as to repair cracks or severe chips, to complete a root canal, or to seal a tooth that is sensitive to either hot or cold temperatures. It is most commonly uses when the size of a filling exceeds a certain portion of the tooth, because since the worst possible situation would be for the tooth to unexpectedly fracture, Dr. Yeager will place a crown to prevent damage. He primarily uses metal-free, high-quality, porcelain crowns that look very natural and which don't have a dark metal line as many older crowns do. Today’s porcelain blends perfectly with the surrounding teeth, and reflects light with a natural healthy glow. When performing the procedure a mold is taken of you tooth to get the exact dimensions needed for the future crown. Then, once it has been created at an outside dental laboratory, the crown is simply slipped over your tooth and bonded into place. The resulting tooth is extremely strong and you can count on normal tooth function.
Dental crowns can also be created using the new CEREC® optical tooth imaging system. The advantage of using CEREC® is that your crown can be created and bonded into place in only one visit. The CEREC® takes an optical image of your tooth which is viewed from a monitor at chair-side. Dr. Yeager can then make any adjustments needed before simply hitting a button to start the machine. The crown is milled from a solid block of porcelain and then bonded over the damaged tooth.

Dentures
Dr. Yeager provides some of the best denture care in the Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Sebastopol, and Oakmont areas. Simply put, these are not your mother's dentures. Many people know, or at least have heard about, someone who wears dentures and that the wearer’s experience has not always been pleasant. Complaints usually include the embarrassment of dentures unintentionally slipping out of place when eating or talking. Your denture problems can now be remedied through personalized fittings using the newest materials that make tight, comfortable fitting dentures, or through the use of dental implants for more permanently retained prosthetics. Molds of your mouth are taken so that every miniscule bump and fissure is incorporated into the new denture. Dentures can also be replaced or realigned should your jaw and gums change as you age. If your dentures were made more than five years ago, these new techniques may not have been available to you at the time, or you may require a new fitting.
If you are experiencing difficulty with your dentures contact Dr. Yeager’s dental office in Santa Rosa, CA today to schedule a consultation.

Gum Therapy
Once upon a time, patients with gum disease could expect to lose their teeth at an early age. Surgical treatment used to be the only option to prevent this, but even then dentists were not always able to stop the disease from progressing. Today dentists know that gum disease is caused by a bacterial infection, and have since developed non-surgical treatment plans to stop or slow down decay so patients can keep their natural teeth. At Dr. Paul Yeager’s dental practice, non-surgical treatment is geared toward eliminating the bacteria, healing any damage present, and strengthening the immune system. One popular option is the Perio Protect® system in which a special mouthpiece is filled with an antibiotic cleansing solution. You will be given at-home care instructions to supplement office treatment. For patients with advanced cases, antibiotics, deep cleaning under the gums, bone grafts, or gum surgery may be required.
Gum disease, and the presence of certain bacteria inside pockets within the gums, has also been shown to increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, so it is crucial for patients’ health that they prevent infection. The key to preventing gum disease is keeping the teeth free of plaque and tartar by brushing, flossing, using mouthwash, and visiting the dentist for cleanings. If you are in the Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Sebastopol, or Oakmont areas, and if it has been over, or is nearing, six months since your last cleaning, call our office today to schedule an appointment.
